Scholars’ Academy students, also known as Seawolves, are hardworking and resilient. Students ‘CHARGE’ their way towards success! They work their best to maintain an 85% or higher overall Grade Point Average and a 95% or higher attendance rate.

The Scholars

The Seawolves in our school care for one another and support each other greatly, within academics and other fields throughout the school. According to Regina M. “the students support each other and are very kind.

Academic Statistics

In The Scholars’ Academy, we have a 100% graduation rate, we are the 17th highest rated school in New York City. We have a 95% math proficiency and a 98% reading proficiency. 

Social Emotional Academic Learning

Students engage in weekly Advisory Sessions and Guidance Assemblies. They also engage in monthly SEAL Days where students follow a modified schedule aligned with social, emotional, academic learning 

Topics for MS include: Social and Cultural Awareness in building student relations, Emotional/Mental Health and Student Wellness, and academic support for College and Career Readiness

Topics for HS include: Promoting Self-Care, Positive Mental Health, & Mindfulness

Accelerated Academic Courses

The Scholars’ Academy prepares students for college and careers. Scholars in grades 6-12 are programmed for honors classes beginning in grade six.  Scholars can complete 6 high school credits during their time in middle school.  Due to the challenging and accelerated structure of our program, scholars have the ability to graduate with 27 college credits.  Scholars can earn college credits through the Advanced Placement Exams or our partnership with St. Francis College.

Grade Eight

Humanities: Interdisciplinary Course: English Language Arts and History: Reconstruction to the Present Time

Algebra I: Inquiry Approach of Regents Level Algebra

Living Environment: Hands-on Living Environment State Mandated Labs

Spanish I: Language acquisition: speaking, reading, and listening skills 

Students take the Spanish Proficiency exam to earn one year of high school credit in a Language Other Than English (LOTE)

Music: Music theory focusing on digital instruments, recording  software and various web-based applications

Physical Education: Calisthenics, Ipad Fitness, Yoga, Dance, Sports
